About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Optometrist to join a specialist ophthalmic provider at its Glasgow city centre clinic.

Working within a multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will collaborate with ophthalmologists and other experienced eye care professionals to deliver a broad range of specialist clinical services. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in a modern clinical environment while providing high-quality care to patients throughout their treatment journey.

Applicants should have a minimum of two years’ post-registration experience, and candidates with an Independent Prescribing qualification are particularly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting pre- and post-treatment assessments for ophthalmic patients.
  • Supporting ophthalmologists in the delivery of specialist eye care services.
  • Performing comprehensive eye examinations and clinical assessments.
  • Participating in specialist treatment pathways and follow-up care.
  • Delivering patient consultations through both face-to-face and remote channels.
  • Reviewing referrals and assisting with patient triage to ensure appropriate clinical pathways are followed.
  • Providing clinical guidance and support to administrative and operational teams where required.
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records and adhering to professional standards and governance requirements.

Candidate Requirements

  • GOC-registered Optometrist.
  • Minimum two years’ post-registration experience.
  • Independent Prescribing qualification preferred but not essential.

  • Strong clinical decision-making abilities.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
